1 What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your computer, phone, or tablet when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, remember preferences, and understand how visitors use a site.
Cookies may be session cookies (deleted when you close the browser) or persistent cookies (kept until they expire or you delete them). Similar technologies include local storage and session storage in your browser, which can save small amounts of data on your device.
2 How We Use Cookies
On CodeToFun, cookies and similar technologies may be used to:
- Keep the site secure and functioning correctly.
- Remember that you accepted our cookie notice so we do not show it on every visit.
- Measure traffic and improve tutorials, tools, and page performance.
- Display advertisements on some pages through third-party ad partners.
- Support sign-in or account features where those services are available.
We do not use cookies to collect the code you type in Try It Yourself editors. That activity typically runs locally in your browser unless a feature explicitly states otherwise.
3 Types of Cookies We Use
We group cookies into the following categories:
- Strictly necessary: Required for core features such as security, load balancing, and basic navigation. These cookies are essential for the site to operate and cannot always be switched off in our systems.
- Preference: Remember choices you make, such as dismissing the cookie banner. On CodeToFun, accepting the cookie notice stores
cookieConsentin local storage. - Analytics: Help us understand how visitors use pages (for example, which tutorials are most helpful). Analytics providers may set their own cookies if enabled on the site.
- Advertising: Some tutorial pages load Google AdSense, which may use cookies to serve and measure ads, limit how often you see an ad, and detect fraud. Google’s use of advertising cookies is governed by Google’s advertising policies.
4 Local Storage
In addition to cookies, CodeToFun may use local storage in your browser. Local storage lets the site save a small value on your device without sending it to our servers on every page load.
cookieConsent: Set totruewhen you click “Agree” on the cookie notice, so the banner stays hidden on future visits.- Editor or tool settings: Some in-browser tools may store preferences locally to improve your experience on that device.
You can clear local storage through your browser settings (often under “Site data” or “Storage”). Clearing it may reset preferences such as the cookie banner.
5 Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies are placed by third-party services that appear on our pages. We do not control how those providers use cookies, and their practices are described in their own policies.
- Google AdSense: Used to show ads on selected tutorial pages. Google may use cookies for ad delivery, personalization (where permitted), and reporting. Learn more at Google Privacy Policy and Google Ads Settings.
- Embedded content: If we embed videos, widgets, or social content from other sites, those providers may set cookies when you interact with them.
- Authentication providers: If you sign in with a third-party account, that provider may set cookies to manage the session.
We encourage you to review the privacy and cookie policies of any third-party services you use through CodeToFun.
6 Managing Cookies
You can control cookies in several ways:
- Browser settings: Most browsers let you block, delete, or limit cookies. Check your browser’s Help or Settings section for “Cookies” or “Privacy.”
- Clear site data: You can remove cookies and local storage for codetofun.com only without affecting other websites.
- Ad personalization: Visit Google Ads Settings to manage interest-based ads from Google.
- Industry opt-out tools: In some regions, industry programs such as the Digital Advertising Alliance or Your Online Choices (EU) offer additional controls.
If you block all cookies, some parts of CodeToFun may not work as expected. Strictly necessary cookies are required for basic site operation.
7 Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit CodeToFun, you may see a cookie notice at the bottom of the page. It links to this Cookie Policy and includes an Agree button.
Clicking Agree stores cookieConsent=true in your browser’s local storage so the banner is not shown again on that device. You can change your mind at any time by clearing site data for codetofun.com in your browser settings.
Where required by law, we will seek consent before placing non-essential cookies. Essential cookies needed to run the site may still be used.
8 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add new features, change ad or analytics providers, or when laws change. When we do, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date at the top.
Continued use of CodeToFun after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
